For folks who struggle with body image, the holiday season can be a challenging time, and can often feed into self-doubt and negative self-talk. If you find yourself demeaning your body, punishing it, and blaming it, this six week drama therapy group might be for you.  Whether you are in recovery from traumatic experiences, substance use, or an eating disorder, or are simply a person in a body existing in this timeline, this group will provide a space to build connection with others, to share maladaptive thoughts around body image and identifying the origins of those narratives. The space will be Health At Every Size and body liberation aligned, and help participants identify where internalized ableism, racism, anti-fat bias, and patriarchy show up in their lives and to develop coping skills and resiliency.

Participants will blend sharing and processing of experiences with creative arts therapy interventions designed to help participants examine and play with these narratives from new perspectives, and invite new possibilities and choices to emerge.  Participants will also learn tools and talking points to set boundaries with friends, family, peers, and co-workers.

Cigna insurance is accepted, and for those out of network, billing can be submitted on your behalf toward possible reimbursement.  Contact us if you would like to use your Cigna insurance for this group.

Our groups are inclusive spaces. Participation is a commitment to welcoming and valuing the unique contributions fellow group members bring in terms of their life experience, age, education, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and beliefs.
