Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

  • Therapy can be helpful whether you're in crisis, navigating a life change, or simply curious about personal growth. You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or “big issue” to begin—if something’s on your mind, or you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, therapy can offer support, clarity, and a space to explore what matters to you.

  • We offer a free 20–30 minute consultation in person, by phone or video.

This is a chance for us to get to know each other a bit, hear what you’re looking for, and see if we’re a good fit.

  • Our intake coordinator will learn about your needs and preferences, then recommend a therapist who fits your goals and style.

  • After the consultation, we’ll schedule your first session and send intake forms. For adults, intake happens over 1–2 sessions. For children and teens, it includes caregiver sessions and collaborative planning.

Logistics & Scheduling

  • We offer in-person, virtual (telehealth), and hybrid options based on therapist availability and your preferences.

  • Most sessions are 45–50 minutes. Group therapy and workshops usually last 60–90 minutes. We can discuss other formats if needed.

  • We usually recommend weekly sessions to start, but we’ll collaborate on a schedule that fits your goals and life.

  • We have a 24-hour cancellation and reschedule policy. Late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full fee.

  • Item descriptioYou have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give their patients or clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. n
